dc.description.abstract Archives are documents that are managed by large and small companies. Handling archives requires proper rules so that the value of the information contained can be preserved for use when needed. Handling archives electronically is currently a trend for companies that are starting to pay attention to environmental conservation efforts in the paperless-office concept, which are carried out by the office or organization where they work in environmental conservation and saving activities. This paper will discuss the role of the secretary in handling electronic records as an innovative effort for professional workers in the field of office administration. The research was conducted qualitatively by analyzing the filing system and information technology in the handling of electronic archives. The results of the study indicate that administrative staff or for example a secretary are able to innovate to handle electronic archives in the form of information technology while still following the rules that apply in archiving procedures.
