This research focuses on the design and implementation of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) application using the CodeIgniter framework to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the employee selection process at Balai Diklat Industri Medan. The background of this research addresses the challenges faced with conventional exam methods that are time- consuming, prone to human error, and environmentally unfriendly. Through the use of the CBT application, the employee selection process becomes more efficient by significantly reducing the time required for distribution, collection, and evaluation of exams. Additionally, this application helps minimize the risk of human error in question distribution, answer collection, and exam evaluation, thereby increasing accuracy and fairness in the selection process. The implementation of CBT also supports environmental preservation by significantly reducing paper usage, which also impacts the reduction of operational costs associated with printing and distributing exam questions. The CodeIgniter framework was chosen for its good performance, extensive documentation, and strong community support, which facilitates the development and maintenance of the application. Although there are technical challenges in implementing this system, the long- term benefits of efficiency, accuracy, and contribution to the environment make the CBT application an effective solution for the employee selection process at Balai Diklat Industri Medan.
