The use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology in education has presented new opportunities to increase learning effectiveness. The use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology in education has presented new opportunities to increase learning effectiveness.
This research examines the implementation of marker-based tracking techniques in an interactive learning context aimed at introducing deep-sea animals to elementary school students. By utilizing AR, markers, and multimedia, this research designs and develops learning applications that combine these elements. This application utilizes special markers that are placed in books or printed learning materials used by students. When students point their mobile or tablet device at a marker, marker-based tracking technology recognizes the marker and triggers the appearance of an interactive, live 3D deep sea animal object on the device's screen. Students can directly explore and interact with marine animals, gaining information about their physical characteristics, behavior, and habitat engagingly and educationally. The research results show that the implementation of marker-based tracking techniques in interactive learning can enrich the learning experience of elementary school students. They can not only identify different types of deep-sea animals visually but also understand their characteristics through direct interaction with 3D models. Additionally, this approach allows teachers to integrate AR technology into their curriculum in a more engaging way, helping students develop a deeper interest and understanding of science and the marine environment. The implementation of AR, markers, and multimedia technology in this kind of interactive learning shows great potential to improve the quality of education at the elementary level and stimulate students' curiosity and understanding of the amazing world below the sea surface.
