Currently, almost all networks built by telecommunications service providers have been migrated to optical networks due to their advantages compared to copper cable networks. One of the advantages is that it has a larger bandwidth capacity, this is directly proportional to the increasing number of customer requests and increasingly developing communication technology. Good network installation and maintenance is very necessary to maintain customer comfort. However, no matter how good the performance and superiority of fiber optics is, it will not rule out the possibility of problems occurring in the transmission process using fiber optic transmission media. Therefore, in this thesis we will discuss troubleshooting in fiber optic cables using the fusion splicer connection technique.
In this thesis assignment, Troubleshooting is analyzed on the FTTH STO Tanjung Morawa (TJR) network to the Rivera Medan Complex, research is carried out to prevent interference that occurs in a GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology system measured by the size of the power budget based on benchmarks from ITU (International Telecommunication Union) theory and standards, using the OPM (Optical Power Meter) and SPLICER measuring instruments as a means of connecting fiber optic cables and calculating losses using the Power Link Budget.
