This study is aimed at finding out the best composition of brake pads from wood carbon powder through wear test hardness test and brake campas material impact test. The methods used are vikers for hardness test, ogoshi using Ogoshi Highh Speed Universal Wear Testing Machine (Type OATU) and charpy test equipment for impact test. The brake campas material consists of carbon as well as wood and then added with aluminum powder, brass powder, silicon carbide, barium sulfate (BaSO4), fiberglass and epoxy resin with a specific composition percentage for each sample. The results of this study are hardness conducted with three comparisons, namely the comparison of 50: 50, 60: 40 and 55: 45 among these three comparisons the lowest is a comparison of 50 : 50 with a mass of 13.5 kgf / mm2. At wear values have the lowest value at 0.0000074 g/mm2.s, asbestos brake pads have a wear value of 0.0000574 g/mm2.s and wear values of 0.0000074 g/mm2. this second is closest to the value of the asbestos brake pads. Impact tests that have better tenacity and broken strength have a value of 0.00118 joules from the three trial comparisons conducted.
