dc.description.abstract The diesel engine is a combustion engine that performs the combustion process using diesel fuel, in diesel engines, especially the colt diesel car engine, it is very common and complained by users or drivers because the colt diesel car engine is one of the old car engines. Leakage of the valve seat is very vulnerable to occur in every car, as a result, because the load exceeds the capacity of the car. Therefore, the valve seat must be replaced with a new one so that the car can be reused. The field of mechanics and machining is also indirectly required to develop to keep up with the increasingly advanced industrial world. This aims to increase the durability of the material to match the expected engine performance. The general requirement for a material is to have strength, hardness, stiffness, and maintainability. The cooling process on a colt diesel car can also be done by optimizing the function of the oil as a coolant. The steps that have been applied are oil cooling by using Meditrans sc oil. The purpose of this study was to compare the level of hardness or strength of the ferrous metal valve seat. Starting with the process of measuring the hardness value of the valve seat, the process of heat treatment, cooling and comparing the hardness value of the valve seat of ferrous metal alloy material.
