Cars are produced in order to facilitate human work, it is expected that car components are designed effectively and efficiently and use quality and durable component materials. One type of car component is the connecting rod. Connecting rod is a component that functions to continue the straight motion of the piston into rotary motion on the crankshaft. Connecting rod is very influential on the performance of the L300 diesel engine, so it must have good strength. Therefore, the authors are interested in conducting research on the hardness test of the connecting rod bushing of aluminum alloy and bronze material by heat treatment. The purpose of this study was to compare the level of hardness or strength of the connecting rod aluminum and bronze materials. Beginning with the process of measuring the hardness value of the connecting rod bushing, the process of heat treatment, cooling, and measuring the value of re-hardness. Next, analyze and compare the hardness value of the connecting rod bushing of aluminum alloy and bronze material. After the heat treatment process was carried out with a temperature of 350°C and a time of 30 minutes on the connecting rod bushings of aluminum and bronze alloys, the hardness value increased with the use of oil cooling media. The average value of the connecting rod bushing hardness of aluminum alloy material is 204 Kg/mm with an average increase in hardness value of 44.6Kg/mm. While the average value of the hardness of the connecting rod Bushing bronze is 170.4 Kg/mm with an average value of increasing the hardness value of 25.6Kg/mm
