In a project that has a large cost, there are several parts of the work whose processing costs have a major influence on the overall project cost, including in terms of materials, materials, dimensions, work methods, number of workers, execution time and others. Therefore, it is necessary to have a Value Engineering (Value Engineering) so that unnecessary costs can be eliminated. The purpose of this thesis is the cost savings achieved before and after Value Engineering is carried out. The four work items that have the largest expenses are column and beam formwork, floor work and plastering work. The results of value engineering (Value Engineering) obtained 30/40 column formwork work obtained savings of 4,936.082, - or 3.30%, beam formwork work 30/40 Rp. 496,152,18, - or 1.01%, Floor work obtained savings amounting to Rp.45,948,559,- or 16.75% of the initial cost and the plastering work obtained savings of Rp.10,166,892,- or 5.09% of the initial cost. From all selected work items, a total savings of Rp.61,547,685.18 or 1.59% of Rp.3.876,884,000,- total project costs was obtained. In order to get optimal savings, the application of Value Engineering can be done on all work items and its development is not only limited to controlling costs, but also optimizing time and labor control.
Keywords: Value engineering, savings, alternatives.
