Advances in technology in the field of electronics, especially microcontrollers, provide many benefits in the world of research and development, one type is from the Atmel family, namely AVR. This electric wheelchair control system is designed based on an AVR microcontroller, namely atmega 8. The advantage over conventional control systems is that the system can controlled via voice access, considering to overcome the limitations of movement of its users. The system works based on voice recognition which is translated into command codes on the microcontroller to move the wheelchair. The communication medium between users is via a smartphone connected to a controller circuit via a bluetooth network. The user commands the movement by uttering certain sounds such as "go", "right", "left" or "stop". The speech will be converted into text by the voice recognizer application and sent to the control circuit via bluetooth. The received text code is then verified to command the motion of the motor for example forward, left, right and so on, and an ultrasonic sensor has been added to detect obstructive objects. After going through the design, assembly and testing process, the wheelchair control system can be realized in a miniature wheelchair work well. The weakness or weakness after testing is that the language used is still in English and cannot use Indonesian. In addition, another weakness is that there is a delay or delay when an order is given until the command is executed, so it requires further research to perfect it.
