ABSTRACT
Urban and industrial development as well as increasing population have a major impact on the hydrological cycle that affects urban drainage systems. Urban drainage serves as the disposal of excess water by draining it through the surface / below the ground surface to be channeled into rivers, lakes, or the sea. In several cities, especially Pematangsiantar City, which is located in North Sumatra, several flooding/water problems inundate roads, one of which is on the Viyata Yudha Bawah street, Setia Negara Village, Siantar Sitalasari District.
The design or re-dimension of the drainage on the Viyata Yudha Bawah street is very necessary to overcome the problem of puddles/floods that commemorate roads that can damage the road body due to existing channels that can't accommodate water discharge and can disrupt the daily activities of residents. Re-dimensioning the existing canal can solve the problem of flooding by finding the dimensions of the existing canal which are larger than the design discharge value.
In overcoming the problems that occur, reviewing the evaluation of the existing drainage channels that cannot accommodate the water discharge, namely the planned rainfall with the normal method, normal logs, and Gumbel, calculating the planned discharge of the channel, calculating the drainage capacity and dimensioning the drainage channel cross-section according to the calculation of the discharge channel plan.
