dc.description.abstract | Selection of Stabilization Material is the main thing that must be considered if we want to improve clay soil. The selection of stabilizing materials must also be reviewed of the material, whether or not the material is easy to obtain, and the distance between the material and the research. In this study there are 2 types of stabilizing materials used, namely Lime and Volcanic Ash. This research intends to improve soft/clay soil by adding a mixture of addictive substances as an alternative problem to decrease the low bearing capacity of the soil. And to find out the comparison between the two addictive materials used for changes in PI values, changes in compaction tests, and free compressive strength values, with the percentage of mixing materials, namely 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12%. Based on the results of the study in terms of the (PI) value, it can be concluded that volcanic ash is effectively used as stabilization for clay soils. This is because the addition of volcanic ash content will strengthen the bond between soil grains and water, so that the soil is not easily broken when subjected to vertical pressure.
