dc.description.abstract Aluminum belongs to group IIIA in the chemical elements of the periodic system of elements, with an atomic order of 13 and an atomic weight of 26.98 grams. Free air on oxidized susceptible Al makes a thin layer of oxide (Al2O3) which is corrosion resistant. Aluminum has the character of being able to react to acid or alkaline content (Murtiyoso, et al., 2017). In general, heat treatment is heat treatment of metal materials to obtain the desired properties, by heating to a certain temperature, then cooling or adding certain elements, so that the desired microstructure, hardness/ properties are obtained. Impact testing is a test used to determine the properties of a material that is subjected to dynamic loads, so that from this test it can be seen that the toughness of a material in the form of clay or ductility and brittleness can be seen. In this method of impact testing by placing the position of the test specimen on the pedestal with a horizontal / horizontal position, and the direction of loading is opposite to the direction of pull. Research objectives, to obtain impact strength at different temperatures, to determine the mechanical properties of the impact of the specimen material before and after aging at temperatures of 150ºC, 300ºC and 450ºC. The effect of artificial temperature variations on the age hardening process on changes in the level of hardness. Primary data from the results of the heat treatment examination on the strength of the impact test on aluminum 5083 was carried out at the Medan State Polytechnic. Secondary data obtained from journals that have to do with research. The object data that has been obtained were analyzed using the Charpy method. From the results obtained with air cooling media at the time of aluminum research with air cooling media with different heat levels at a temperature of 150ºC the aluminum was broken and at 300C and 450ºC it was not broken. From the results obtained above with water cooling media with different heat levels at temperatures of 150ºC and 300ºC, aluminum is broken and 450ºC is not broken. From the results obtained above with oil cooling media with different heat levels with a temperature of 150ºC, 300ºC broken and 450ºC not broken.
