dc.description.abstract This study is focused on circumstantial elements that implied on the articles of politic. This study used the Systemic Functional Grammar theory developed by M.A.K Halliday. Halliday devided circumstantial elements into nine types such as: extent, location, manner, cause, contingency, accompaniment, role, matter, and angle. The writer intended to analyze this study to find out the type of circumstantial element that developed by Halliday which obtained from e-book contained on the politic issues in the Jakarta Post using transitivity system. This study used qualitative method in analyzing the data which the data in this research is the articles of politic in the Jakarta Post daily newspaper: 22nd May 2019 vol.37 no.023, 24th May 2019 vol.37 no.025. The result in this research shows that there are 55 clauses of circumstance found of three articles of politic, 22 clauses are Location of circumstance with (40%) as the most dominant type of circumstantial element; 9 clauses are extent of circumstance with (16,36%) as second position; both of circumstance of manner and contingency have same percentages with (12,73%) also circumstance of role and angle have same percentages with (3,63%). Meanwhile, circumstance of matter can not be found on the three articles of politic has 0% in percentage.en_US
