ABSTRACT
One of the main problems of the distribution of electrical energy is the overload of the capacity provided, for example, the size of the cable conductor. This is because the additional load has unconsciously exceeded its capacity limit. The result of overloading is that there is heat on the cable which over time will make the cable melt and a short circuit occurs and eventually a fire occurs. The solution taken to overcome this is to make a device that can detect heat in the cable. LM 35 temperature sensor is used to detect heat and send it to a microcontroller. The microcontroller reads the temperature and decides whether the conditions are normal or dangerous. If the cable temperature exceeds the normal limit, the controller will cut the current and send an SMS message to the technician or electrical operator. Data transmission via internet network using ESP8266 wemos controlled by Atmega 8 microcontroller. Data is sent in the form of chat news to one of the social media servers, namely Telegram. The sensor is installed by attaching the sensor body to the body of one of the distribution cables. Heat induction will cause the sensor temperature to rise. The sensor converts the temperature into an analog voltage and is given to the microcontroller analog input. The signal is converted into digital data and calibrated by the microcontroller to the actual temperature value. The temperature read is then compared with the limit made, in this case 33 degrees Celsius. When the cable temperature exceeds this limit, protection will be carried out and a warning notification will be sent via Telegram chat to the electricity operator.
