Cryptography is a science based on mathematical techniques for dealing with security and information such as confidentiality, data integrity and entity authentication. In other words, cryptography encodes the original text into cipher text. To encode the original text into ciphertext (encryption) or change the ciphertext back to original text (decryption), a public key and a secret key are required. One of the cryptographic systems is the Vertical Bit Rotation (VBR) cryptographic system. The VBR cryptographic system is a cryptographic system with an asymmetric key, where the key for encryption is different from the key for decryption. To implement the VBR cryptographic system, a text file encryption application will be created. This application is equipped with an encryption and decryption process with a VBR cryptographic system for the contents of the file to provide general data security.
