dc.description.abstract This research was aimed to analyze Word Formation in the articles of a News Application. This research described word formation process supported with a theory by George Yule (2010) in which it was to find how the process of word formation used in News Application “Soompi” articles. The data in this reearch were taken from News Application “Soompi”, text-books, journal, and other resources. This research used descriptive qualitative method which relied on verbal data and explained descriptively. The writer found that there were 30 occurances of word Formation used in the articles of a News Application namely Compounding with 10 occurances (33,33 %), Derivation with 7 occurances (23,33 %), Acronym with 7 occurances (23,33 %), Blending with 2 occurances (6,66 %), Borrowing with 2 occurances (6,66 %), and Clipping with 2 occurances (6,66 %). Based on the result, the writer found the most dominat type of word formation used in News Application “Soompi” was Derivationen_US
