PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV is a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) which is engaged in the agro-industry business. PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV (PTPN IV) manages tea commodities covering 4% of its entire plantation business. PTPN IV tea plantation units are located in Sidamanik, Bah Butong and Tobasari plantations. At PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV Bah Butong Tea Factory Unit needs to determine the optimal number of workers at the rolling station, because there is no balance between working time and labor so there are additions or subtractions.
The purpose of this study is to determine the amount standard time, productivity and determine the number of workers that must be employed at the rolling station based on the standard time. Through this research, the company can determine the number of employees needed by the company to complete its work. The research was conducted from 07.00 WIB to 16.00 WIB on operators working at the Rolling Mill to limit the problems in the research. The research took place in several stages, namely preliminary observations followed by determining the number of observations, work sampling observations, data collection, data
processing, analysis of results, and finally conclusions from research results.
This research was conducted using work sampling method. This is done by observing the actions of workers while working, which is then used to measure their work productivity. By knowing the productivity of the operator, the standard working time and the number of productive hours to complete the work are obtained, then use them to calculate the total working time by the number of processing enumerations. , from observations and calculations so that it is known the number of workers who should be employed.
