The development of toll road infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting economic growth and public mobility. The Binjai–Langsa Toll Road, as a main transportation link in the Sumatra region, holds strategic importance in facilitating transportation and distribution flows. Therefore, the quality and durability of pavement structures are crucial factors that must be addressed. This study aims to determine the ideal rigid pavement thickness for the Binjai–Langsa Toll Road section 3 STA 47+425 – 48+025 by considering various technical factors such as traffic load, soil bearing capacity, and compliance with applicable civil engineering standards and regulations.
The analysis was conducted to evaluate the effective bearing capacity of the subgrade and to ensure a balance between pavement thickness and long-term performance.
The results show that the ideal rigid pavement thickness, based on the MDPJ2017 method, is 285 mm for the concrete slab layer, 100 mm for the lean concrete, and 150 mm for the drainage layer. The subgrade was deemed capable of supporting traffic loads after cement stabilization of 450 mm thickness, with a minimum CBR value of 7.68%. The proposed thickness and design comply with the relevant standards and regulations while considering the actual field conditions. Thus, the design not only meets technical requirements but also ensures stability, durability, and efficiency in long-term toll road planning.
