Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by hyperglycemia, where blood glucose levels exceed normal values. As a chronic disease, the high number of people with diabetes causes a decline in public health in an area and one of the causes is the lack of knowledge about diabetes mellitus and the limited time and cost to consult a doctor. Therefore, a system is needed that can help in dealing with problems regarding limited time and costs to consult. The system that can be used as a solution is an expert system, where the expert system that is built later can be used as an alternative means of consulting about diabetes based on the symptoms experienced by the patient and then will provide treatment suggestions that may be done and can provide knowledge to the public about the symptoms of diabetes mellitus. For this reason, the method used in this research is a comparison of two methods, namely Forward Chaining and Bayes Theorem. The result of the research is the creation of an Expert System application that can be used in knowing the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus disease well and can be used as a problem solution and is designed with a web base.
