The use of additivesis one of the alternatives used to obtain a good quality coating layer. PET (Polyethylene Terephtalate) plastic bottle waste is a type of waste that is difficult to decompose soil organic compounds so it is one of the causes of soil damage, but perhaps plastic waste is flexible material that can be used as an alternative additive in road pavement mixtures. This utilization is used to reduce the axistence of plastic waste so that it will not cause a negative impact but can have a positive impact on society and the environment. This study aims to determine the effect of the addition of PET (Polyethylene Terephtalate) plastic waste on the characteristics of the marshall test and to obtain result in the from of polymer modified asphalt composition which has a high stability value so that it can improve the quality of road construction or repair. The method used was an experiment, in which 15 test objects were made using asphalt penetration 60/70 to determine KAO (Optimum Asphalt Content) with variations of 5%, 5,5%, 6%, 6,5%, and 7%, after obtaining the KAO value of 6,5%, then mixing PET plastic with variations of 1%, 2%, and 3%. From this research, the stability and flow values must meet the general specifications of 2010 (revision 3) for asphalt mixtures using PET plastic as added material. From the results of the marshall test of asphalt mixtures using PET plastic additives, starting from variations of 1%, 2%, and 3% seen from the marshall test parameters and data processing, the variation used as the optimum PET plastic asphalt content is the 1% PET plastic variation.
