In the implementation of political participation, the community needs political means, namely political parties. With the existence of political parties as a forum to convey their aspirations as citizens. However, if we look at the current role and function of political parties, it has been underestimated by most people who feel that the role and function of political parties cannot carry their aspirations and become an aggregation of the interests and sovereignty of the people, but their existence is only considered as a means of political vehicles used by certain individuals to obtain positions in the government, so their strategic role and function is lost. There are many considerations or reasons why a person chooses and votes for legislative candidates. For example, kinship/family ties, religious/ethnic reasons, educational reasons, party ideological reasons and even financial reasons. There are also rational reasons based on the vision and mission of legislative candidates and their track record. In this study, the decision support system for the most popular political parties in North Sumatra, aims to build a decision support system to determine the most popular political parties in North Sumatera using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. The application is developed using PHP programming language. The system is tested using a black box method that focuses on the specifics of the application. System testing is carried out using the black box method, which focuses on the functional specifications of the software to make testing easier and to know that the system can function correctly from the user's perspective. The final results of this research from 101 respondents in North Sumatra are the 3 highest scores, Gerinda 0.9194, PKS 0.7494 and Golkar 0.4675.
