dc.description.abstract This research discussed about speech act president Rodrigo Duterte in SONA Forum which aimed to find out the process of illocutionary act and to identify the most dominant sentence of illocutionary act in the speech. This research focused on John Searleā€Ÿs theory about interference. Then, the data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. The research used note taking as the instrument to find out the valid data. This research was conducted in order to find out the process of illocutionary act. The finding showed that the process in illocutionary act, there were Assertive 86 include (71 stating, 9 suggesting, 0 boasting, 3 complaining, 3 claiming). Directives 57 include (7 ordering, 15 commanding, 18 requesting, 16 advising, 1 recommending). Expressive 18 include (6 thanking, 0 congratulating, 1 pardoning, 2 blaming, 9 praising, 0 condoling). Commissive 21 include (15 promising, 3 vowing, 3 offering). and Declaration 0 (declaration no found in this research). The research concluded that Assertive of stating the most dominant sentence were usually used by president Rodrigo Duterte in SONA, Quezon City July 28,2018. en_US
