Highways are a very important form of transportation in supporting various social and economic activities. The purpose of road construction includes ensuring safe, fast and comfortable traffic. Road conditions that are often flooded for a long time can cause damage to the road and disrupt driver comfort. so it is necessary to modify ordinary asphalt with asphalt that has good water absorption capacity and is expected to help overcome existing problems.
In this experiment, rice husk ash is used as a filler in road pavement with the aim of increasing water absorption and strength in asphalt pavement. The method used is by using the marshall test and its permeability.
Based on the test results, the values of stability, flow, VIM, VMA, VFB, MQ, and permeability were obtained with variations in asphalt and filler content used as follows; 2% filler & 4.5% asphalt; 2% filler & 5.9% asphalt; 3.5% filler & 4.5% asphalt; 3.5% filler & 5.9% asphalt. The addition of rice husk ash to geoporous asphalt meets the specifications of the Australian asphalt pavement association (AAPA), 1997; 2004.
