"Legacy of Sisingamangaraja XII: A Renaissance of Resistance" is an educational game designed to enhance young people's understanding of the struggles of Sisingamangaraja XII, a national hero of Indonesia who fought against Dutch colonialism in the 19th century. Due to the lack of engaging and interactive history learning materials, this research utilizes RPG Maker MV and the Finite State Machine (FSM) method to create an immersive learning experience. The FSM method was chosen for its ability to dynamically manage NPC (Non-Playable Character) behaviors, allowing rich interactions between players and characters in the game, such as dialogues, providing hints, and responding to player actions. The research method employed is qualitative, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 30 respondents aged 15-20 years. Testing was conducted in several stages, including gameplay testing, functionality testing, and compatibility testing across various platforms. The research findings indicate that the implemented FSM method successfully controls NPCs, allowing them to behave dynamically and responsively, thereby adding depth and realism to the game. The study concludes that the educational game effectively increases player engagement and historical knowledge, demonstrating significant potential as an innovative interactive learning tool.
