Retaining wall is a construction structure built forholding soil that has a slope where the stability of the soilcannot be guaranteed by the land itself. The stability of a building construction is the most important thing in his planning, as it isconstruction of a cantilever type retaining wall at the Sicanang Bridge Medan Belawan – Medan City which withstands the resulting earth pressure by piled-up land or native land which is unstable in terms of conditions and consequencesload acting on the retaining wall and the design load itself. The purpose of writing this thesis is to determine the safety factor retaining wall using the Rankine method and for calculations stability to soil bearing capacity using the Terzaghi equation. From the results of the analysis of the calculation of this retaining wall, can be concluded as the following: The value of the safety factor obtained is the Overturning Stability Value (Fgl) = 2.3 > 2, Shear Stability Value (Fgs) = 3.48 > 2 then the retaining wall type cantilever can be said to be safe in resisting shear forces, and overturning forces and Soil bearing capacity stability value = 7.45 > 3 then the retaining wall is the type cantilever can be said to be safe in the collapse of soil bearing capacity and the overall value of the factor of safety meets the requirements.
