dc.description.abstract The purpose of this research is to analyze the types and change word class of derivation in the headline of The Jakarta Post Newspaper. The method used in this research was qualitative research. The main data of this research were related to several morphological text books developed by O’ Grady and another data were taken from the headline of The Jakart Post newspaper. The objectives of this research were to explore the types of derivation and to describe how they were used in the source data. The results showed that there were two types of derivation found by the witer namely prefixes derivation which adds morpheme in the begining of and suffixes derivation which add morpheme on the end of base. The findings are the prefixes had 10 occurances and the affixes had 29 occurances. Based on the findings, it is concluded that the form of affixes exist in the headline of The Jakarta Post newspaper. en_US
