To improve people's welfare in the industrial sector, especially household scale industry, it is necessary to improve the facilities or equipment related to the processing of raw materials in the household industry. Currently, many home industries are engaged in processing packaged food products which come from raw materials for agricultural products such as processing nuts. The aim of the research is to determine the volume of the peanut roasting cylinder, determine the motor power used and determine the strength of the shaft used, as well as the torsional moment, shaft diameter, twist angle and shear stress that occurs. The research method carried out is an experiment by testing a roasting machine that has been designed to know the working system. The results of the research found that the cylinder volume of the peanut roasting machine was 722 mm. Based on the power required for the roasting process of 121.6 watts, the electric motor chosen was a ½ HP AC motor (373 watts) with a rotation of 1330 rpm. This test also focused on the stirring shaft, and determined the shaft strength to be 4.17 (kg/mm²), calculate the twisting moment or torque that occurs at 501 (kg.mm), calculate the permitted shaft diameter of 16mm, determine the twist angle that occurs at 0.17°, and determine the shear stress that occurs in the shaft at 0 .44 (kg/mm2).
