dc.description.abstract Concrete is the most widely used building material in construction activities, both used in buildings, roads and water construction. The development of the era makes the need for components increase every year, which requires concrete materials from nature such as coarse aggregate crushed stone. This study tried to use lava rock derived from Mount Sinabung lava vomit as a substitute for coarse aggregate in mixing the concrete mix design. The purpose of this study was to determine the wear value of the lava rock abrasion test and the effect of the replacement of the coarse aggregate material of the lava rock on the compressive strength of concrete.Utilization of lava rock can be another alternative in concrete mix design, where the concrete used in this study uses K-250 concrete as a test object. The test was carried out after the concrete was 28 days old. From the results of the abrasion test, the wear value on the lava rock was 40.68%, according to SNI 2494-2002, lava rock can’t be used as a substitute for coarse aggregate because the wear value does not exceed 50%.
