Road section Simpang Durian Mulo–Namo Ukur Langkat Regency, North
Sumatra Province is one of the cross-provincial road sections with class III B
primary collector road status. This road section is often traversed by heavy
vehicles that exceed the maximum planned capacity, this results in heavy damage
to the road section. The increase in heavy-duty vehicles passing on the Simpang
Durian Mulo–Namo Ukur road in Langkat Regency in the last few decades has
caused structural damage to this road section. Road infrastructure design was
analyzed using the 2017 Road Pavement Design Manual. The first step is to
collect traffic data, including the average daily traffic volume. The second step is
the collection of geotechnical data, such as CBR data and Sandcone Test data.
Then the last step is the detailed planning of road pavement construction
including material specifications and layer thickness. The results of the analysis
show that the design construction consists of four layers of pavement, namely
surface layer AC WC (40 mm), AC BC (60 mm), class A foundation layer (40 cm),
selected fill (10) cm with a total thickness of 60 cm. For implementation in the
field obtained a thickness of 56.5 cm resulting in a thickness difference of 3.5 cm.
