PT Mitra Agung Sawita Sejati is a company engaged in the palm oil industry sector and the product it produces is palm oil (CPO). The production process consists of several stations starting from the loading ramp, sterilizer, capstan, threshing, pressing, clarification, and recovery. At the capstant station there are operators who feel complaints in the form of pain in the wrists, upper and lower arms, and thighs, the activities carried out by these operators are alternating from the loading ramp station to the capstant station as far as 40 meters with an alternating weight of around 15 kg with complaints the greatest pain experienced by workers is pain in the wrists and arms with the score of the nordic body map questionnaire (3).
The aim of this study is to recommend improvements to the work system for returning empty lorry from the capstan station to the loading ramp. The corrective action taken is to design a proposed work facility, namely a lorry push tool that can be easily controlled by the operator.
Calculation of the workload using a biomechanics approach by measuring the dimensions of the employee's body when pulling alternately obtained a Recommended Weigh Limit (RWL) value of 1.04 and a Lifting Index (LI) of 3.78, which means that this value is above the NIOSH standard limit of 1.
Proposed work facilities in the form of a lorry pusher with a length of 2 meters, a width of 0.8 meters, a height of 1 meter, a power of 4.9 Kwh, a power or torque of 441 newton meters, and a speed of 0.66 m/s so that it can relieve workers and help improve work posture, so as to minimize the risk of injury.
