The luggage storage locker is a commonly utilized facility for temporarily storing belongings by many individuals, typically found in public places such as stations, malls, mosques, and others. Generally, luggage storage lockers employ conventional keys to secure access to the stored items. However, this method has security vulnerabilities, as conventional keys are prone to damage, unauthorized duplication, and even loss during use. To address these issues, researchers have developed a storage locker utilizing fingerprint technology as a security measure for accessing stored items in the locker, preventing access by individuals who are not the owners of the items. This locker utilizes ESP 32 as the microcontroller and a fingerprint sensor as the fingerprint reader, along with other supporting components. When a user wishes to use the locker, they must register their fingerprint first. If the fingerprint is successfully registered, the locker will automatically open, allowing the user to deposit the items they want to store. When the user wants to retrieve their items, they only need to place the previously registered fingerprint, and the locker door will open automatically.
