Earthquake is one of the natural disasters that often occurs in Indonesia. Most of Indonesia's territory is an earthquake-prone area because it is located in a very active tectonic zone. According to SNI 03-1726-2002 the city of Medan is in earthquake zone 3 which is a medium earthquake risk category. One of the impacts of the earthquake was damage to building structures, especially the college buildings where there were lots of human activities. Therefore the calculation of the effect of the earthquake is very calculated in the construction of buildings. In this study, building modeling software was used to facilitate the analysis to be carried out using the equivalent static method with the help of the ETABS program or manually. The purpose of this study is expected to be able to determine the magnitude of the lateral force and other forces such as the moment force, shear force, and axial force that occurs on the building. By comparing the regulations of SNI 03-1726-2002 with SNI 03-1726-2012. The results of this study show that the calculation of the earthquake lateral force with SNI 03-1726-2012 is greater than SNI 03-1726-2002 with values for the X direction 59% and Y direction 74% greater. Likewise with moment forces, shear forces, axial forces that increase against the building considering the combination of earthquake loads.
