This study aims to determine the best composition of brake lining material from carbon sawdust through testing the hardness, wear and impact of brake linings. The hardness method used is direct pressure using a hardness tester, wear method using an internal combustion engine and impact testing using the Charpy impact method. The brake lining material consists of sawdust carbon, barium sulfate, graphite, fiberglass, aluminum powder, brass powder, calcium carbonate, silicon carbide and epoxy resin with a certain percentage of composition for each specimen. As for the results of the 3 specimens with hardness, wear and impact testing, specimen 1 had good mechanical properties in the hardness and wear tests with a hardness value of 16.5 HVN and a wear value of 0.000722222 gr/mm2.minute. While in the impact test, the mechanical properties are good and the recommended value is specimen 3 with a value of 0.000181211 J/mm2.
