Tubers are one of Indonesia's plantation products that are widely used by the community. One of the results of processing tubers is cassava chips. Manufacturers of cassava chips processing start from large-scale producers (factories), home industries, or small community groups (villages). At this time, most medium and small scale cassava chips producers still use the process of cutting or chopping cassava manually. The manual chopping process causes a long production time. The manufacture of cassava chopper machine is one alternative to increase the efficiency and productivity of cassava chips processing. Therefore, the design of the cassava chopping machine was made to overcome the problem of long production in medium and small scale cassava chips producers. This cassava chopper design uses 2 cutting blades and an electric motor propulsion. Next, plan and calculate the force on the engine elements, the amount of motor power used, and the capacity produced by the cassava chopper machine. The results of planning and calculations, obtained chopper machine using a power of 1/2 Hp, 1330 rpm rotation with one rotating disc.
