Sumatra Island is a region that has a quite unique tectonic setting because Sumatra Island has two geological conditions that influence seismic activity and tectonic conditions on Sumatra Island, namely the subduction zone and the Sumatran fault zone. Therefore, it is very important to compare the magnitude of earthquake forces that occurred in 3 adjacent large city areas such as Medan City, Pekanbaru City, and Padang City. The aim of this research is to determine the magnitude of lateral forces and other forces such as moment forces, shear forces and axial forces that occur in buildings in the 3 areas of Medan City, Pekanbaru City and Padang City by referring to SNI 03-1726-2019 regulations. In this research, building modeling software is used to simplify the analysis which will be carried out using the equivalent static method with the help of the ETABS program. The results of this research show that the calculation of earthquake lateral forces using SNI 03-1726-2019 shows differences in lateral forces in the X direction, with Padang City being 76% greater than Medan City, while Medan City is 39% greater than Pekanbaru City. For the lateral force in the Y direction, where Padang City is 64% larger than Medan City, while Medan City is 39% larger than Pekanbaru City. Then there are differences in the values of the forces that occur, where the ultimate moment & ultimate shear values for Padang City have the largest values and Pekanbaru City have the smallest values. Likewise for the axial force value the largest value is in Pekanbaru City and the smallest value is in Padang City.
